The Marsala salt pans: where nature meets history
Sail out into the Stagnone Lagoon, following the Salt Road, with tastings of typical products

White dunes between sheets of water and fairy-take mills. The striking Stagnone salt pans are painted in an ever-shifting colour palette, which changes depending on the position of the sun. Set off from Trapani for Marsala, where you can embark with a local guide and slowly sail through the Stagnone Lagoon, enjoying panoramic views. Be enchanted by the herons and pink flamingos that fly over the dazzling whiteness of the salt pans. Discover the island city of Motya – an ancient trading post that is now an open-air museum – and the islands of the archipelago, from Schola, the smallest, to Santa Maria, with its impressive sanctuary. Salt is the common thread running through the history of the area. Stop for a tasting of salt-related products: wine jellies, chocolate, almond and pistachio creams, cheeses and local wines. A journey through a world where nature, culture, landscape and flavours all coexist in perfect harmony.
